After nearly a four year absence from the music scene, with hardly a word except for the occasional reports of one off shows in obscure New England backwater bistros (and of course the inevitable rumors; "dunked in the depths of Venice" said some, "drunk in the depths of Brooklyn," said those in the know) pop fans now have cause to rejoice with the release of "The Blushing Bachelor", the eagerly awaited new long player by underground pop legend Stephen Rand and his brand new backup band, His Magic Ponies. Stephen is best remembered as the front man for The Caroline Know and The Loneliest Christmas Tree, whose many fine recordings were released on The Bus Stop Label by indie label pioneer Brian Kirk throughout the years.

"The Blushing Bachelor" was recorded at Fireproof Recording Studio in Brooklyn, by veteran producer Adam Lasus, who is best known for his work with such artists as Juliana Hatfield, Versus, Helium, Small Factory, and infinitum.

His Magic Ponies features the Fender bass stylings of Western MA hardcore legend Scott Helland of the Outpatients and Deep Wound fame. Taking up residence on the skins is Jeremy Marusek, who is best known for his work with New Radiant Storm King and Claudia Malibu. Joining them on keyboards is former Caroline Know member Spike Priggen. Also featured on the album is the
recording debut of Brooklyn chanteuse Kim Kershaw.

"The Blushing Bachelor" is a collection of seven of the many songs that Stephen has written since the demise of The Caroline Know, songs of love and longing both real and imaginary, but mostly imaginary.
